A Canadian Film and Television Champion

Last week, the Canadian film and television industry lost an important executive and creative champion. Jay Switzer, co-founder of Hollywood Suite, an independent Canadian broadcaster, died at age 61 after a brief illness. Switzer began his television career at the upstart Citytv, when he was just 16 in the early 1970s. He rose up the ranks to CEO of Citytv-owned Chum Ltd in 2002. From there, he created television specialty broadcaster Hollywood Suite. Along the way, his achievements have been recognized with awards and special honours, he’s mentored countless creators and producers, and has consulted and served on many boards. The Agenda welcomes two former colleagues who remember Switzer as a savvy executive and a loyal mentor.
